Oppo confirms flagship smartwatch launch date as hands-on images surface
Oppo has confirmed the launch date for the Watch 3, its first Snapdragon W5 Gen 1-powered smartwatch. Incidentally, Oppo has confirmed Digital Chat Station's earlier leaks, which we discussed earlier this week. Hence, the Oppo Watch 3 will debut on August 10, albeit only in China. Unfortunately, Oppo still remains silent about the Watch 3 on its global social media channels.
Additionally, Oppo has showcased two Watch 3 styles with Yi Jianlian, embedded below. As expected, Oppo will offer the Watch 3 in black and silver finishes with silicone and leather straps, respectively. Also, both variants will feature a single physical button and a digital crown, unlike the outgoing Oppo Watch 2. Seemingly, Oppo is not planning on releasing a second Watch 3 model, which Digital Chat Station appeared to show in one Weibo post.
Separately, Evan Blass has shared two hands-on photos of the Oppo Watch 3 on Twitter. As far as we can tell, the smartwatch's display does not stretch as far into its corners as Oppo's renders suggest. As such, it will not be a match for the Apple Watch Series 7 or the upcoming Watch Series 8 in this regard. Still, the Oppo Watch 3 could offer superior ergonomics when it arrives on account of its curved display.
