New leaked Oppo Watch 3 images confirm revised design and curved display
Digital Chat Station continues to leak details about the Oppo Watch 3, the existence of which Oppo has already confirmed on Weibo. As we discussed earlier this week, the Oppo Watch 3 is rumoured to feature a 1.91-inch AMOLED display with an LTPO backplane. Coupled with the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1, the Oppo Watch 3 is slated to deliver up to 5 days of battery life in regular use, outstripping all Wear OS smartwatches. Purportedly, the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro could come close, but perhaps only with up to 3 days between charges.
As the renders show, the Oppo Watch 3 has a metal chassis, plus a choice of leather or silicone straps. Supposedly quick release straps, it seems likely that the Oppo Watch 3 will support third-party alternatives natively, unlike Apple Watch Series smartwatches. In saying that, Oppo has borrowed from Apple with the inclusion of a digital crown, a single physical button and a microphone all placed on the same side. While their arrangement is different, it is clear to see from which company Oppo has drawn inspiration in this regard. For context, the Oppo Watch 2 has two physical buttons, rather than one button and a digital crown.
Moreover, the renders highlight that the Oppo Watch 3 will launch with a curved display, another unusual feature for a modern smartwatch. Referred to as '3D curved' by Digital Chat Station, it remains to be seen whether the smartwatch itself will also curve around a wearer's wrist. Reputedly, the Opop Watch 3 will debut in China on August 10. However, Oppo has not confirmed a launch date yet, nor has a global release been teased either.
