OnePlus launches TV U1S series in three screen sizes starting from ₹39,999, OnePlus TV Camera also announced for big screen video calls
OnePlus has been on a TV launching spree of late. The OEM recently introduced the TV 40Y1 in the budget Y-series and is now introducing three more models in the upper midrange U-series segment under the U1S moniker. The OnePlus TV U1S series sport pretty much the same specifications as last year's OnePlus TV 55U1 with few cost cutting changes.
The OnePlus TV U1S comes in three size variants — 50 inches, 55 inches, and 65 inches. All three are 4K LED panels with a rated DCI-P3 coverage of 93%. Similar to the previous iteration, the U1S series TVs also offer the company's Gamma Engine, which is an umbrella term for MEMC, Super Resolution, Noise Reduction, Dynamic Contrast, and Color Space Mapping. The U1S TVs are all HDR10+-certified and support HDR10 and HLG. However, unlike the previous 55U1, Dolby Vision support seems to have been dropped this year.
On the audio front, the 50 U1S and the 55 U1S sport a 2-unit 30 W speaker configuration with Dolby Audio while the 65 U1S offers a 4-unit speaker array similar to the 55U1. OnePlus said all three variants' speakers are tuned by Dynaudio. Unlike the 55U1, there is no support for Dolby Atmos or DTS-HD indicated although those desirous of those formats will most likely have a high-end receiver and speaker setup.
Connectivity features are largely similar to the 55U1 including dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 5, 3x HDMI 2.1 ports (first HDMI port supports eARC), 1x RF input, 1x AV input, 1x Optical, 1x Ethernet, and 2x USB 2.0 ports. There is no USB 3 port, however. The TV U1S runs on Android 10 with updated apps including OxygenPlay 2.0, OnePlus Connect 2.0, and a new far-field voice control called Speak Now. The 55U1 is still on Android 9, so we expect the Android 10 update to come soon as an OTA update.
OnePlus emphasized upon the ease of controlling the TV using the OnePlus Connect app and the OnePlus Watch. OxygenPlay 2.0 now offers Live News and Sports Zone along with content curation from 16+ over the top (OTT) providers.
Additionally, OnePlus also announced the launch of the OnePlus TV Camera that works with Google Duo for video conversations straight from the TV. The company said that its new TV Camera is capable of wide-angle 1080p 30 fps video and is equipped with dual-microphones and noise cancelation algorithms. Users can also pull down the shutter for added privacy. The OnePlus TV Camera accessory is compatible will all OnePlus U1S, 55U1, and Q1 series models.
