OnePlus teases a new Y-series TV ahead of its May 2021 launch
OnePlus has announced a new 40-inch variant of its Y-series TVs, to join its existing 32- and 43-inch SKUs on the Indian market. This smart screen has the same thin-bezel design as its siblings, giving it a ~94% screen-to-bosy ratio in this case.
The upcoming 40Y1 TV also has the same FHD resolution, "Gamma Engine" suite of enhancements and 93% DCI-P3 color-space coverage as the 43Y1. It also runs the same Android 9.0-based OS, overlaid by the OxygenPlay content-management system, as the rest of its series.
The 40Y1 also sticks with the same number of ports (such as dual HDMI and USB connectivity) and wireless specs (single-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 included) as the aforementioned Y series. It will ship with a voice-control-capable remote and can also sync to a user's smartphone.
The new 40-inch OnePlus TV will be released via Flipkart on May 24, 2021. Its price remains a mystery until then, although it can be expected to fall somewhere between the cost of the 32Y1 and 43Y1, at INR 15,999 (~US$220) and 26,999 (~$371) respectively.
