Xiaomi has debuted its latest premium TWS earbuds, which, contrary to earlier indications, are called the FlipBuds Pro. They rock a case with a footprint styled after the OEM's new logo, as promised, and are ANC, as projected.
In fact, their maker claims the FlipBuds Pro can exclude unwanted noises to the tune of 40 decibels (dB) thanks to their new 3-mic system, as opposed to 35dB in their predecessors, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Pro. Their actual audio capabilities are delivered via 11mm drivers, and through their Qualcomm QCC5151 Bluetooth chipset.
This silicon confers Bluetooth 5.2 and the aptX Adaptive Dynamic Codec Protocol on the new buds. Xiaomi has also noted that they also have a Game Mode - but only when paired to a new or new-ish flagship from their own brand, the Mi Mix Fold; Mi 11 Ultra or other 11-series phone; Redmi K40s; or Note 9 Pro included.
The FlipBuds Pro will be available to pre-order on May 14, 2021, and will start at 799 yuan (~US$124), an increase of 100 yuan (~$16) on their previous generation. For this additional cost, the user does at least get fairly up-to-date features such as dual-device pairing, at least.
The Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Basic are now available on Amazon
