Huawei's placement on the US Entity List is clearly apparent by now, as is its devastating effect on the OEM's business, particularly as it relates to the manufacture and sale of its mobile devices. Therefore, Xiaomi can not have been impressed when similar action was taken against it by the former administration.
This action against the leading OEM was not exactly like that associated with Huawei: while that company lost ultimately crucial access to US-based suppliers, Xiaomi became incapable of soliciting new capital from investors located in the same country.
However, the electronics giant has hotly contested the ban, refuting its alleged basis (links to the Chinese state institutions). It has even done so in a Washington, DC court as of late, the resultant decision of which has just been issued. The judgement has swung in Xiaomi's favor, meaning the US Department of Defence must retract its de-listing from the US investment space soon.
