OnePlus launches TV 40Y1 40-inch smart TV in India, will be available on Flipkart for an introductory price of ₹21,999 from May 26
Last year, OnePlus offered two Android TV options in the affordable Y-series — TV 43Y1 and the TV 32Y1. Now, the company is introducing a 40-inch variant in the Y-series in an exclusive partnership with Flipkart. Screen size apart, the OnePlus TV 40Y1 shares a common spec sheet with the TV 43Y1.
The TV 40Y1 uses a 60 Hz FHD panel that OnePlus claims can cover 93% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The TV runs on Android 9 with Google Play, Chromecast, and Google Assistant built-in, which can be invoked directly from the remote. Unlike the high-end U-series that uses the RC-003A remote, all Y-series models use the RC-002B remote that comes with dedicated Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube buttons. For convenience, the TV 40Y1 can also be controlled via the OnePlus Connect app available for Android and iOS devices.
Powering the TV 40Y1 is a 64-bit processor with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. OnePlus said that the TV 40Y1 features the company's Gamma Engine technology for improved picture quality along with noise reduction, color space mapping, dynamic contrast, and anti-aliasing. The TV also comes with OxygenPlay that offers content discovery and premium partner content. An integrated Content Calendar provides automatic reminders of upcoming shows and movies.
The Y-series models do skimp on some niceties to keep the price more accessible. There's no 4K, MEMC, or any form of HDR support, and the Y-series models offer only two 20 W speakers with Dolby Audio with no Dolby Atmos or DTS-HD support. Also, these models offer only 2.4 GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi, though Ethernet input is present. Other ports include 2x HDMI, 1x RCA, 1x Optical audio-out, and 2x USB 2.0 ports.
The OnePlus TV 40Y1 will be available for an introductory price of ₹21,999 (US$302) on Flipkart starting from May 26 until May 31, 2021. The TV will also be available on oneplus.in from June 1 onwards. OnePlus is offering a one-year warranty for the TV and another year warranty for the panel. Buyers get to avail several offers including 12-month interest-free EMIs.
