Smart TV lovers in China who can’t fit a Redmi Max 98 in their living space now have a new option from Xiaomi in the slightly more petite Redmi Max 86. The latest addition to the series of giant television sets has a highly competitive price tag of 7,999 yuan (US$1,237) and brings a lot of features to the table. For those worried about having a crane parked outside their apartment block in regard to delivery, Xiaomi has carefully studied elevators throughout its homeland and has revised the packaging for the 86-inch Redmi Max so that it fits 99.9% of elevators.
Along with the 4K screen and 120 Hz refresh rate, the Redmi Max 86 supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Panorama. The color-space coverage (P3) hits 92% and because of the very narrow bezels there is supposedly 97.25% screen real estate for viewers to take advantage of. The 86-inch Redmi Max smart TV is fitted with 2x 12.5 W speakers and also utilizes Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio reproduction. Gamers will be tempted into making a purchase thanks to the variable refresh rate, presence of HDMI 2.1, and automatic low latency ideal for those speedy racing games.
The smart part of the Redmi Max 86, which runs on MIUI for TV 3.0, is provided by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 processor that is joined by 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Sturdiness is guaranteed by the metal base and metal frame, while connectivity is fulfilled by an Ethernet jack, 3x HDMI ports (1x HDMI 2.1), 2x USB ports, and 1x S/PDIF. Owners of the 86-inch Redmi Max TV can utilize the intelligent assistant XiaoAI to help manage content and fully customize the viewing experience. However, just like the 98-inch relative, it seems unlikely the Redmi Max 86 will make an appearance beyond the borders of China anytime soon.
