Realme will unveil its first 108MP camera at its upcoming Innovation Event in March 2021
Realme's introduction of its new "Dual-platform, Dual-flagship" strategy for its phones at MWC Shanghai 2021 indicates that it will now split its high-end offerings between 1 device focused on performance - now known as the hotly-anticipated GT 5G - and another, more mysterious phone focusing on camera quality instead. Now, the OEM has all but confirmed that this second flagship will do so by incorporating its first ever 64MP+ sensor.
Yes, Realme will join a handful of other brands like Xiaomi and Samsung in the 108MP arena in 2021. Its implementation of the tech will be outlined during the next edition of its regular Camera Innovation Event. As for the phone in which it might debut, rumors currently point towards the 8 or 8 Pro 5G.
The latest hint of these devices pointed toward the inclusion of the mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC. However, it is now believed that the 7 Pro's successor will be Realme's first 108MP device, and will also launch in March 2021 in India.
This is largely based on a Realme teaser that melds a new "108" logo with a quad-cam module matching that of a heretofore-unknown device with the OEM's branding, snapped in the hands of Bollywood star Salman Khan (currently an ambassador for the brand).
This phone is now touted as an 8 Pro 5G, and, considering its predecessor, also has a good chance of being unleashed with 65W charging, Android 10 (at least) and about 8GB of RAM.
