February 25 is going to be a very big day for Redmi and parent company Xiaomi. Not only is there the official launch of the Redmi K40 smartphone series and new RedmiBook Pro laptops on the reveal agenda, but there is also another huge TV set to be shown off. It appears the new device is going to be the second member of the Redmi Max range, which currently consists of the incredibly popular Redmi Max 98 Smart TV.
To tease the new giant television, Xiaomi has been asking its followers on the Chinese social media site Weibo what size they think the latest Redmi Max set will be, and only offering the clue (machine translated), “this time the surprise was a little too big to get into the elevator”. The installation of the Redmi Max 98, which has attracted buyers with its 19,999 yuan price tag (US$3,100), is a small operation in itself, as can be seen in the video clip below.
While some followers have optimistically suggested measurements of 120 inches and beyond for the next Redmi Max Smart TV, it seems some who claim to know a little more about the matter have plumped for the 86-inch mark. It would actually make more sense for Xiaomi to produce a slightly smaller member of the Redmi Max family, which would also carry a smaller price tag, with guesses suggesting just 9,999 yuan (US$1,550) for such a behemoth.
