Xiaomi has revealed that it managed to sell 1,660 units of the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max in a single day thanks to the attractive combination of decent specifications and reasonable price (19,999 yuan; about US$2,877). The giant 4K Redmi Max 98 seems to be completely unrivalled in the domestic market at the moment.

A new promo image from Xiaomi has announced that 1,660 units of the Redmi Max 98 were sold in a single day, adding to the already incredible feat of 1,000 units being sold in a minute. Sales of the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max were impressive when the device was first offered to the public in China in June, but these latest figures prove that Xiaomi has hit a sweet spot between cost and quality. This is further demonstrated by the claim that only 100 98-inch TVs are sold by rivals on a monthly basis...and then Xiaomi exceeds this total by over 16 to 1 in a single day.

Apart from owning a 98-inch smart TV that costs only 19,999 yuan (US$2,877), which is comparatively inexpensive compared to similar-sized rival devices, customers have been convinced by the Redmi Max 98’s specs. Along with the 3840x2160 resolution, the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max’s display can manage 85% coverage of the NTSC color gamut and has a viewing angle of 178° and 60 Hz refresh rate. The set also comes with 192 dynamic backlight partitions for enhanced viewing.

The smart capabilities of the Redmi Max 98 are provided by a 12nm quad-core Amlogic T972 processor (Cortex A55) with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB flash storage are available to assist, and the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max can utilize PatchWall software and MEMC screen-smoothing technology. Bluetooth and infrared connections are supported along with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. There are 3x HDMI ports (1x ARC), 1x AV, 2x USB, 1x Ethernet, and 1x S/PDIF, while 2x 8 W speakers provide the sound with Dolby Audio and DTS-HD audio dual decoding being supported.

As for the dimensions, unsurprisingly you would need a lot of space in your living room or bedroom to place the Redmi Max 98. It measures 86.2 inches x 49.4 inches/2,190 mm x 1,255 mm (53.3 inches/1,354 mm including feet) and weighs a hefty 150 lbs/68 kg. Even installing the 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max is a feat in itself (see images below).
