The 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max is a smash hit for Xiaomi as 1,000 units are sold in just under three-and-a-half minutes
Xiaomi frequently reports astronomical sales figures for its popular products, but this latest one is quite outstanding considering the device involved. The 98-inch Redmi Smart TV Max isn’t an easily shippable activity tracker or must-have smartphone; it’s a giant television that costs a whopping 19,999 yuan (US$2,825). Regardless of its hefty proportions and weighty price tag, Xiaomi reported sales of 1,000 units in only 3 minutes and 28 seconds.
To put that sales feat into better perspective, it means Xiaomi raked in 19,999,000 yuan (US$2.8 million) just by sales of this one product in less than four minutes. The Redmi Smart TV Max 98-inch set doesn’t seem to be a particularly populist product due to the amount of room it would take up and the considerable expenditure required to own one. But such is the weight the Xiaomi and Redmi brand names have in their domestic market that the Chinese OEM can brag about moments like this.
The Redmi Smart TV Max 98-inch set has a 4 GB + 64 GB memory configuration and is fitted with its own custom processor. 4K HDR, 85% NTSC coverage, MEMC technology that smoothes out fast-moving images, Dolby and DTS-HD panoramic audio support, 3x HDMI ports, 2x USB ports: The Redmi Max 98 has a lot to offer for its price, even at 19,999 yuan, and clearly customers in China are happily snapping up the gigantic smart television.
