Xiaomi has unveiled its Redmi Smart X TV series. Available in three sizes, the Smart X series ranges from 50-inches to 65-inches. All models, which Xiaomi calls the X50, X55 and X65, have 97% screen-to-body ratios and metal chassis. Additionally, Xiaomi offers 4K panels on all models, which it has complemented with MEMC motion compensation. The latter operates at 60 Hz, for reference. Xiaomi claims that all three panels will cover at least 85% of the NTSC colour space, too.
Also on board is 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Additionally, Xiaomi has included four 12.5 W speakers to handle audio output and employs Dolby Audio sound enhancement technology to create surround sound and subwoofer effects. The X50, X55 and X65 all support voice gestures and can link with IoT devices. Xiaomi does not speak of what OS the Redmi Smart X series is running on, but Android TV would seem a likely candidate.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the X55 will retail for CNY 2,299 (~US$322), with availability scheduled for June 10. The largest of the three, the X65, will cost CNY 3,299 (~US$462). However, Xiaomi is offering a CNY 300 (~US$42) pre-order discount on the X65. The company will offer an equivalent discount for the X55 model too, but it is yet to confirm whether the pre-order price will be lower than CNY 1,999 (~US$280). Pricing remains unknown for the X50 though, except that it will retail for less than CNY 1,999 (~US$280). International availability and pricing remain unknown for the time being, too.
