At the beginning of this month there was something of a sensational reveal of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 5 wearable fitness tracker as photos of the device were shared online - although these were later denounced as fake. The most startling feature of that particular Mi Band 5-related leak was the huge cut-out on the display, which some believed was for a touch button while others even opined it was for a camera.
However, new supposed live photos of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 at least show a different device, as the wearable fitness tracker shown in these two images doesn’t have the same egregious cut-out on the display. The Mi Band 5 is captured in the hand and with a charging station in the two photos (see below).
According to the source of these alleged Xiaomi Mi Band 5 real-life photos, the fitness tracker will have a better battery life than its predecessors. A price of 200 yuan (US$28) has been mentioned, which does not seem too unreasonable an estimate as the launch price of the base model of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 wearable was 169 yuan (US$24).
Considering the general buzz around the Mi Band 5, it’s important to take this latest leak with a pinch of salt. Xiaomi is expected to release the latest entry to the Mi Band fitness tracker line at some point in June, and the versatile device will offer users a myriad of features that include an SpO2 sensor.
