Huami has confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is still on course to launch later this year and that the working relationship between the two companies is as strong as ever. Recent rumors had suggested that Xiaomi was considering taking its considerable investment out of Huami, which could have scuppered plans for the Mi Band 5 wearable.

Huami has been making sure the business world knows that it is still in a strong position thanks to its close ties with Xiaomi and its work on the Mi Band 5 wearable. A recent post on Huami’s Weibo account downplayed rumors that Xiaomi was going to pull out of the working relationship.

In a recent Huami earnings call the company’s CEO, Wang Huang, made it clear that Huami was still busy with the development of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, and the executive expects the next wearable in the popular series to be just as successful as its predecessor:

We will launch Mi Band 5 this year as planned and expect it to be another blockbuster following the record-breaking performance of Mi Band 4.

With the confirmation that Xiaomi has not reduced its amount of shares in Huami and that the Mi Band 5 is still on course for a 2020 release, the company had made positive steps to reassure fans and investors alike. There have been rumors that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 could be released in June and may feature a larger touchscreen and wider NFC functionality.
