Updated | Redmi X50 goes on sale: 50-inch smart TV with 4K screen, MEMC, and a metal frame for just 1,899 yuan (US$272)
Update July 17: Xiaomi has now discounted the Redmi X50 smart TV to a temporary price of 1,799 yuan (US$257).
Original story:
Redmi revealed its Smart TV X series in May with the lineup consisting of the X50, X55, and X65 sets. The latter two TVs have already been available for purchase, while those interested in picking up the smallest SKU have had to wait to find out the price and sale date for the device. Redmi has announced the X50 is now on sale for 1,899 yuan (US$272), reduced from its normal listed price of 1,999 yuan (US$286).
Like the other two televisions in the new Redmi X series, the X50 is attractively priced considering the features it offers. Along with the already mentioned specifications, the Redmi X50 comes with a quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and 32 GB flash storage, voice control, bass sound system featuring eight audio units, and Dolby Audio support. The 50-inch screen delivers 85% coverage of the NTSC color space and has a 60 Hz refresh rate.
The Redmi X55 has a usual list price of 2,299 yuan (US$329) while the Redmi X65 has a general price tag of 3,299 yuan (US$472), although Xiaomi is selling both sets at a discount at the moment. By finally making the Redmi X50 available for purchase, the Chinese OEM is building on its success in the affordable smart TV sector by offering a budget 50-inch television without cutting too many corners.
