Redmi recently released the X Series of smart TVs and now Xiaomi’s sub-brand has moved on to an A Series of devices. The new televisions come in five different sizes: 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. Redmi has already announced that the A55 smart TV will be the first of the bunch made available to customers in China, with a sales release date of September 30.
Although the Redmi A55 has an attractive price tag of 1,999 yuan (US$295), parent company Xiaomi has temporarily slashed the price to 1,777 yuan (US$262), giving the new TV a chance to compete against rivals such as the Honor Vision X1 and even Redmi’s own X55 set. The new Redmi Smart TV A55 operates with the Android-based MIUI for TV and offers a 4K Ultra HD (2840x2160) picture.
Assisting the A55 with its smart duties is a MediaTek 9632 quad-core chip, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8 GB storage. The Redmi Smart TV A55 also features Mi Sound for enhanced audio and buyers will find a wealth of ports, including 2x USB, 2x HDMI, and S/PDIF. It’s not known if Redmi will release its A Series of smart TVs outside of China, but such prices and specs would likely make the range popular with international consumers.
