Xiaomi is working on bringing a new 82-inch and 8K TV to market, according to a new report. The TV will even have a 5G modem onboard, allowing for streaming without an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.

Xiaomi is working on a new high-end TV, according to Digital Chat Station. Writing on Weibo, the leaker claimed that the TV would only be second in Xiaomi's TV product stack to the transparent Mi TV Lux. Digital Chat Station added that the unnamed TV would be expensive, but not as expensive as the CNY 49,999 (~US$7,342) that Xiaomi charges for the Mi TV Lux.

According to a 3C publication, Xiaomi has assigned this TV the model number L82M6-8K. By those characters, Digital Chat Station has deduced that it will have an 82-inch and 8K-capable display. The 3C listing also refers to the L82M6-8K as having a power rating of up to 700 W.

Finally, Digital Chat Station claims that the L82M6-8K will have a built-in 5G modem. Xiaomi will not be the first company to release a 5G TV as Gizmochina points out, but it will probably be the largest one to do so. Xiaomi has also certified an L82M6-4K with the 3C, so it seems likely that the company will bring 4K and 8K versions of its 82-inch Mi TV to market, too.

At least the L82M6-8K will support 5G, according to Digital Chat Station. (Image source: 3C via Gizmochina)
