Xiaomi kicks off Android 11 rollout with updates to the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro
Android 11 was finally released yesterday. Google, as always, sent out the update to its entire lineup. Other OEMs continue to play catch-up, however, and Xiaomi stands at the front of the pack. The Chinese company has now announced that it has begun the Android 11 rollout for its own lineup, starting with its current flagship phones, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
To clarify, as Xiaomi isn’t really rolling out Android 11. It’s essentially just the first step in the OS update release process: a closed beta. So, no, Xiaomi isn’t sending out the Android 11 update to Mi 10 users around the globe; it’s only just sending an incredibly early beta build to those who were picked for the Android 11 Mi Pilot program.
The update is already hitting testers, though. The OTA bears the build designation “V12.1.2.0RJBMIXM”, denoting that it’s for the global model of the device. Xiaomi only opened up the Pilot program for owners of the global variant of the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Poco F2 Pro, so owners of other variants of those devices currently do not even have to option to sign up for the Android 11 testing program.
