MIUI 12 update arrives for the Mi Mix 3 5G ahead of schedule

The Mi Mix 3 5G was the forgotten off-spring of Xiaomi's lineup for a long time, with the phone staying on MIUI 10 and Android Pie even when other phones had received the MIUI 12 and Android 10 updates. That has changed now, thankfully.

The Mi Mix 3 5G is now receiving the MIUI 12 update in Europe. Months ago, we reported that Xiaomi would send out a security patch in July, followed by the MIUI 12 update in October. While the promised July update ended up arriving in August, Xiaomi has balanced the scales by sending the MIUI 12 update ahead of schedule. 

The MIUI 12 update for the Mi Mix 3 5G bears the software designation "MIUI 12.0.1.0 PEMEUXM", showing that it's for the EU model of the device. The Vodafone model should get its update shortly. The OTA brings a 958 MB download that delivers all the MIUI 12 features to owners of the Mix 3 5G. 

After this, the Mi Mix 3 5G will receive another security update in December, then yet another in March. At this point, we cannot confirm rumors of a planned Android 10 rollout for the device.
