Xiaomi confirms October MIUI 12 rollout for the Mi Mix 3 5G, sans Android 10

The Mi Mix 3 5G has been, well, shafted. The device was launched last year as Xiaomi's first premium phone for 2019 but seems to have been completely forgotten by the company, as it's yet to either receive the Android 10 update, or even MIUI 11. That may not change for a while yet, too.

Going by a tip we received, the Mi Mix 3 5G will get the MIUI 12 update in October. Four months from now, to be exact. The update is "expected to be rolled out before the end of October". That matches previous information that said the Mi Mix 3 5G would get the MIUI 12 update in September. 

This means that the Mi Mix 3 5G will likely skip MIUI 11 entirely. The real kicker here, however, is that the MIUI 12 update will be based on Android Pie. This means there's a high chance the Mix 3 5G never receives a major OS update in its checkered lifetime.
