As Xiaomi's MIUI 12 rollout slowly continues, the company is already setting its sights on the release of Android 11, with the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro receiving Android 11 beta builds yesterday. It would appear, however, that the Android 11 update will not get to a number of Xiaomi phones, especially the budget offerings and older flagships.
One such phone is the Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi's Snapdragon 845-powered flagship phone that was released in early 2018. The phone ran Android Oreo at launch and has received two major OS updates: Pie and Android 10. As expected, it will not receive a third, meaning Android 10 is where its journey ends. The Mi Mix 2S will receive the MIUI 12 update, however, although it may take a while.
The Redmi 8A is unlikely to get the Android 11 update either, according to a moderator on the Mi Forums. Thoughts of Android 11 on the Redmi 8A may be a bit premature, however, as the phone remains on Android Pie for now. The Redmi 8 got the Android 10 update in China a while ago, though, so it shouldn't take much longer for the cheaper 8A. The Redmi 8A is also expected to get the MIUI 12 update sometime next month.
