Android 10 for the Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi Mix 2 remains a pipe dream, but MIUI 12 could be on the cards

The Mi Mix 3 5G was Xiaomi's first 5G phone and was powered by the flagship Snapdragon 855. In spite of that, it's been mostly neglected and remains on Android Pie and MIUI 10. Android 10 is unlikely to arrive for the phone, too, but like with the Mi Mix 2, MIUI 12 may be on the cards.

The Mi Mix 3 5G was Xiaomi's first 5G smartphone and has been completely forgotten by the company, as it has yet to be upgraded to Android 10 or MIUI 11, in spite of its flagship heritage. That doesn't appear to be set to change soon either.

Xiaomi recently published its plans for the MIUI 12 rollout. Unsurprisingly, the Mi Mix 3 5G is missing from the roster. Mi Mix 3 5G owners recently created a petition requesting Xiaomi to provide their phones with the MIUI 11 and Android 10 updates. That doesn't seem to have been very successful, if this new update roadmap is any indication.

There's contradictory information, though, from Xiaomi UK customer support. Supposedly, the Mi Mix 3 5G will receive the MIUI 12 update by the end of September. Before then, though, the phone is said to be billed to receive an update in June.

The Mi Mix 2, similarly, will not receive the Android 10 update but will get MIUI 12. It's listed in the second round of the MIUI 12 rollout, alongside phones like the Redmi Note 7 and Mi Note 10
