The highly-anticipated MIUI 12 update will make its way to Xiaomi and Redmi devices starting May 19th. A total of 32 devices will be eligible for the MIUI 12 open beta before the final release hits the airwaves. Users on the beta version of MIUI 11 will get the software via an OTA while those on a stable version will have to sideload it.

Xiaomi and Redmi fans worldwide will be pleased to know that the global rollout of MIUI 12 now has a release date. The information comes from MIUI's official Twitter handle, who posted a rather (un)cryptic puzzle, the answer to which was 19, indicating that MIUI 12 would be available globally starting May 19th. Xiaomi has already posted an MIUI 12 roadmap for the Chinese market, so a global version of it shouldn't be too far off.

Xiaomi India is currently looking for testers for its MIUI 12 pilot program. Only Redmi K20 and K20 Pro owners are eligible to participate for the moment. That should change soon, as a beta version of the firmware is expected to make its way to a total of 32 phones. Users on the beta version of MIUI 11 can directly upgrade to MIUI 12 via an OTA update, while those on a stable version of the software will have to sideload it.

Xiaomi is yet to upload the beta builds on its website, though. Here's the complete list of devices that will be eligible for participation. Before upgrading, bear in mind that this is beta software, and it is not suited for daily use. Keep an eye out on the Mi Community forums for more information about the beta images.
