Xiaomi recently unveiled the latest version of its in-house Android fork to the world. MIUI 12 brings forth a lot of exciting features such as new navigation gestures, better multitasking, a new selection of live wallpapers, and more. However, it is only available for the Chinese market at the moment. A global release will follow soon, and in the meanwhile, Xiaomi India is inviting testers to try out the update.
Redmi K20 and 20 Pro users can go here and sign up for the closed beta. There is also a Telegram group where participants can share feedback, report bugs, etc. Users are required to join the Telegram group before May 14. Eligibility criteria require applicants to be active members of the Mi India community, run the lastest version of MIUI on their devices and be well versed with ADB, Fastboot, and sideloading ROMs. Lastly, posting any screenshots or leaking information about the software is strictly prohibited.
As this is an early version of the software, it will be riddled with bugs, and your experience will be less than optimal. Don't run this on your daily driver as a lot of apps might not work as intended, and some might not work at all. Bear in mind that this software is intended for developers and enthusiasts, and not the common user. Xiaomi says that the program will be available for other phones in the coming weeks. A placeholder link for users based outside of India points towards global availability in the coming days.
