Xiaomi teased MIUI 12 in January, and now it has emerged that the company may have ceased beta development for MIUI 11 in anticipation of testing its new OS. Initially reported on Weibo and since republished by the likes of Piunikaweb and XDA Developers, the news is yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi.
The suspension of MIUI 11 development will apparently begin next week, so we may see a statement released around that time. It would be more likely for Xiaomi to announce that it had commenced MIUI 12 beta testing, though.
Separately, a supposed roadmap for MIUI 12 was quickly pulled from Mi.com after being posted. Stating that initial private betas would hit devices in September with wider public betas arriving in October, the alleged roadmap also claimed that Xiaomi would officially launch MIUI 12 in December. Piunikaweb has been quick to rubbish this though, as it was seemingly not posted by a member of the Xiaomi team of a forum moderator.
Regardless, Xiaomi is yet to finish its MIUI 11 rollout, with multiple devices still awaiting an upgrade to Android 10. The Redmi Note 7 series is one example of an eligible device awaiting its first OS upgrade, for instance.
