While Xiaomi continues to upgrade its smartphone portfolio to Android 10, the Redmi Note 7 series remains on Android 9.0 Pie builds of MIUI 11. Android 10 hit the Redmi Note 7 Pro in beta form earlier this month, but we would not recommend installing beta builds on your daily driver.
Both the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro have received stable Android 9.0 Pie builds this month too, effectively confirming that neither will receive Android 10 before next month at the earliest. Understandably, some people are frustrated by the lack of software support that their devices are receiving, especially as they are just over a year old.
Xiaomi is not offering any information about when the Redmi Note 7 series will receive Android 10, either. However, a forum moderator on Mi.com has now informed Redmi Note 7 owners that the OS upgrade is "under development". While that does not depart much from the advice offered in December, the moderator also states that there is "no ETA" for when Xiaomi will deliver the OS upgrade. By extension, the "development" should include the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Ultimately, it feels as though Xiaomi is now ignoring the Redmi Note 7 series. Undoubtedly, the series will receive Android 10 eventually, but it should not take over fourteen months to do so.
