Xiaomi has taken its time with the Android 10 rollout to its budget and mid-range phone. While most Redmi Note 8 Pro owners still complain about the lack of Android 10 even though the stable global update was released months ago, the company has now sent out a stable Android 10 update to the older Redmi Note 7 Pro.
The update arrives for the Redmi Note 7 Pro with the software version number "V11.0.1.0.QFHCNXM", with the "CN" designation indicating that it's a China-only update. It's the China stable ROM, actually, and is surprisingly based on MIUI 11. It delivers the much-awaited Android 10 update and doubles up as the May security patch. Download size is 2.1 GB, similar to other MIUI OS updates.
The fact that the Redmi Note 7 Pro has now started receiving the update in China is good news for users in India—the only other market where the phone is sold. We expect non-Chinese models to receive the update soon, but perhaps alongside MIUI 12 as the rumors claim.
