New update arrives for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T; still no Android 10
The Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro were released last year, and while the more expensive Pro model received the Android 10 update months ago, the regular Note 8 remains stuck on Android Pie, just like its identical sibling the Note 8T. Both phones have now received a new update, but probably not the one users want.
The May security patch is now rolling out to the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T. The update is the Beta global stable build, which means it's not a complete rollout, at least for now. For the Redmi Note 8, it carries the software version number "V11.0.5.0.PCOINXM", while the Redmi Note 8T's build is "V11.0.4.0.PCXMIXM".
Redmi Note 8 owners have waited patiently for the Android 10 update, and it seems they'll have to wait a while longer. Recent reports claim the phones will have to wait until July at the earliest, with the phones expected to finally receive Android 10 as part of the MIUI 12 update.
