Owners of the Redmi Note 8 Pro have been left in limbo for months, patiently waiting for the Android 10 update. All of that has now changed, however, as the phone is currently receiving the update. And no, this isn't just a Chinese rollout; the stable Android 10-based MIUI 11 update is now being sent out to the Redmi Note 8 Pro globally.
The update comes with the version number MIUI 11.0.2.0.QGGEUXM and doubles up as the February security patch. It weighs in at 1.9 GB and brings Android 10, increased security, and a localized payment security icon for users in India.
According to the source, the update also appears to have brought Widevine DRM L1 certification to the phone, allowing HD streaming. Xiaomi promised that a while ago, and it's nice to see the company make good on its promises.
The update began rolling out this morning, so owners of the Redmi Note 8 Pro can expect to get theirs soon. Xiaomi typically rolls out updates in batches, though, so it may take a while to get to everyone.
