No Android 10 update for your Redmi Note 8 Pro? You're not alone
Xiaomi consigned the Redmi Note 8 Pro to the third phase of its MIUI 11 release schedule, with the device set to receive the Chinese company's latest OS last December. While MIUI 11 started hitting some handsets a month early, the wait for Android 10 continues in most regions. Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would not receive Android 10 builds of MIUI 11 until this year, which it duly delivered last month with V11.0.1.0.QGGCNXM.
However, that build only applies to the Chinese branch of MIUI, as we mentioned at the time. By contrast, all other are branches are still running Android 9.0 Pie builds of MIUI 11, with the European edition last receiving V11.0.3.0.PGGEUXM in late December. Most recently, Xiaomi rolled out V11.0.6.0 to Global handsets, but this too is a Pie build of MIUI 11.
Currently, there is no sign of Android 10 for European, Global or Indian versions of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Xiaomi tends to update its stable branches of MIUI ever 1-2 months, but this does not necessarily mean that the next update for the device will contain Android 10.
In short, there is no way of telling when the Redmi Note 8 Pro will receive Android 10 outside of China. You can download V11.0.1.0.QGGCNXM from Xiaomi's servers if you are itching to try Android 10 on your handset, but there are some things to bear in mind before doing so. Firstly, you must have unlocked your device's bootloader, which will factory reset it. You then must install TWRP, the details of which you can find here.
