Android 10 update headaches skipped by Google Pixel 2 XL enjoying Android R
While multitudes of impatient smartphone users are still constantly checking their devices to see if an update to Android 10 has appeared at some point overnight, it seems that some flagship owners are certainly luckier than others. An image of a Google Pixel 2 XL (see below) has been shared on Twitter that shows the Android version as “R”…rub it in Google, it’s not even a Pixel 4 series phone!
There has been some speculation about how some fortunate Google Pixel 2 XL owner could have ended up with what is believed to be an early build of Android 11. PiunikaWeb has stated that the operating system could be a developer build or an example of a Generic System Image (GSI), so owners of Android 9-based smartphones don’t necessarily need to get Android envy just yet.
But if you are currently waiting in frustration for an Android 10 update for your device of choice, it might be a bit too soon to consider trading it in for a second-generation Pixel smartphone. Not much is known about the features that Android R or Android 11 will bring to users, although there has been mention of Airplane Mode being reconfigured so it doesn’t shut off Bluetooth connections when selected.
