Huawei P40 Pro: a new leak hints at a dual punch-hole and waterfall display
The Weibo user "Technology Yu" has posted a new image that apparently shows the Huawei P40 Pro's front panel. According to this leak, the upcoming 2020 flagship has a dual selfie camera found in its display. Furthermore, this same screen has the waterfall effect baked into the pre-exising Mate 30 Pro.
Therefore, it seems the OEM will translate the "Horizon Display" found in its current flagship to its next one, while also dropping the emphatic notch that have been a staple of its high-end phablets for the last 2 years. The leak is rendered more convincing by the screen's contents: it looks like a build of EMUI with overtones of Huawei's own app ecosystem. However, this is not even the most striking aspect of the "P40 Pro's" new photo.
The viewer cannot help but notice that the hand holding the device in the image has some difficulty gripping it, seemedly needing to balance it with a little finger. This is because the phone has a minimal chin in addition to its total lack of side bezel.
This absence of edge is often welcomed by those interested in phone esthetics and design. However, in this case, it suggests a second album with all the difficulty setting this cliche implies for the Mate 30 Pro's virtual volume slider.
This potentially polarizing feature may be attractive, but may also prove impractical in a series historically focused on its camera functions. However, time will tell if this really is how the Huawei P40 Pro intends to present itself or not.
