Xiaomi 13 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 beat the iPhone 14 Pro Max in a real-world gaming test
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is slowly making its way into the market after it debuted back in November. The flagship chipset powers Xiaomi's all-new Xiaomi 13 series, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro has now been put through a real-world gaming test in a bid to see just how it performs compared to its peers.
This test, carried about by Golden Reviewer on popular title Genshin Impact, shows off the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Xiaomi 13 Pro, as it handily outperforms all rivals. In terms of raw performance, the Xiaomi 13 Pro averages a frame rate of 59.4 FPS, making it the highest tested so far. Comparatively, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and its A16 Bionic manage 58.4 FPS, while the Dimensity 9200 on the Vivo X90 sits at 57.5 FPS.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also edge out the Dimensity 9200 in terms of efficiency, with both lower power consumption and higher efficiency numbers. The iPhone 14 Pro Max does have a slight advantage in those aspects, however. Most impressively, though, the Xiaomi 13 Pro manages to put up these class-leading performance numbers while staying cooler than any other tested device. Even at its hottest, it only gets as hot as 39.3°C. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max gets up to 46.7°C, while a tablet like the iPad Pro 2022 still reaches a temperature of 42.6°C.
