MWC 2023 is fast approaching, with this year's Barcelona trade show set to take place between February 27 and March 2. The GSMA already lists MWC 2023 exhibitors, including Samsung. Xiaomi has now confirmed its attendance, during which it will allow people to 'experience new Xiaomi technology'. Xiaomi has not revealed what devices it plans to showcase yet, but 91mobiles and Xiaomiui claim to have obtained information about upcoming global launches.
Unsurprisingly, Xiaomiui believes that the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are on the cusp of launching outside China. However, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun already confirmed as much in mid-December. Conversely, 91mobiles asserts that the Xiaomi 13S Ultra may be headed to MWC 2023, not the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Until now, Xiaomi is rumoured to have been working on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, so we would recommend treating 91mobiles' information with some scepticism for the time being.
Regardless, Xiaomi's next Ultra smartphone is expected to launch with the same Sony IMX989 camera found in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Pro. A QHD+ display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset are also anticipated, which Xiaomi also includes in the Xiaomi 13 Pro. As such, it is currently unclear how Xiaomi will distinguish the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra or Xiaomi 13S Ultra. Undoubtedly, Xiaomi will talk more about MIUI 14 during MWC 2023, having also presented the OS update during its Xiaomi 13 hardware launch event last month in China. Please see our MIUI 14 launch article for more details about the OS update and how it differs from MIUI 13.
