The Motorola Razr 40 is tipped to aim for mass appeal by undercutting rivals in 2023

The "Razr 40" is thought to launch as one of Motorola's latest foldable smartphones. According to a new leak, it might do so with internals comparable to those of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, yet start for less. Should that be the case, it might prove the most popular Razr yet in 2023 - despite its rumored compromises.

Rumors of Motorola's growing Razr foldable clamshell line becoming part of the OEM's general Android flagship line-up may be compounded by a new tip. It suggests that the so-called Razr 40 will actually be sold in Europe as the "Moto Razr40", so as to align with the Edge 40 Pro already released to that market.

The new leak also purports to corroborate the device's updated color choices, to be known as Vanilla Cream, Sage Green and Summer Lilac in the near future. Either option will apparently be available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

And the price?...Motorola reportedly intends to charge €899 (~US$981) for such SKUs of either new colorway: a price level Galaxy Z Flip4 discounts have only just breached on Amazon in the EU, and less than what Samsung charges for a new S23 of the same configuration.

Nevertheless, the latest "Razr40" leaks still insist that the device will launch with a cover display of considerably less potential use than those linked to other new clamshells, the Galaxy "Z Flip5" included. For that, a potential buyer may have to turn to the new top-end "Razr40 Ultra" version instead - and presumably pay the premium for it.
