Blackview first-gen foldable smartphone beats Motorola Razr and Nubia Flip on starting price
The Blackview Hero 10 has now been released with a cutting-edge flexible AMOLED display, almost exactly like better-known rivals such as the Motorola Razr 2023 - and of the same 6.9-inch dimensions to boot. It might also have a more interesting cover screen, which is a circle like that of the Nubia Flip, albeit one cunningly hidden in an elongated dual rear camera hump.
Then again, Blackview has settled for the MediaTek Helio G99 to power its inaugural foldable smartphone: an unusual choice, as it also makes the Hero 10 4G/LTE-only in an increasingly 5G world.
On the other and, the Hero 10 also has a 4,000mAh battery rated to charge at up to 45W - superior to even the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 on both counts.
It has also now been revealed to cost just $404 with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and an Android 13-based OS. It is available at that price on AliExpress from today (May 20, 2024) until June 7, 2024.
Then again, the Razr 2023 is currently just $99.99 more on Amazon right now, whereas the Nubia Flip is $499 on its global webstore page (although it has also just been released at €599 in the EU).
Both foldable smartphones have the same newer 5G-capable SoC and might, as a result, be more future-proof - so long as their software manages to stay up to date, of course.
