The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is projected to go global this year - however, it might encounter an unexpected rival in the form of a third-gen Vivo foldable. It has something most other flagship smartphones do not: dual Dolby Vision-capable, ~4,500-nit 120Hz AMOLED displays, one of which is of the OEM's most modern 8.03-inch flexible 2K+ variety.
Hopefully, the alleged non-Chinese X Fold3 Pro will be its line's top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship, and not its vanilla sibling with a sneaky re-brand. It is an outside possible that Vivo might just think it can get away with that, as it never brought its 8 Gen 2-powered X Fold2 to India.
Nevertheless, even the X Fold3 might be welcome competition in a market dominated by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and OnePlus Open, particularly as it comprehensively beats both with 80W wired charging for a 5,500mAh battery of the sophisticated silicon-carbon variety - taken even further in the 5,700mAh/100W wired/50W wireless charging X Fold3 Pro.
Then again, with those specs (not to mention the X Fold3-series' updated, streamlined build), either device might be well-equipped to keep foldable smartphone prices at their current INR 169,999 (~$2,000) max values. Nevertheless, the global version of the X Fold3 Pro (or Vivo V2330) is now projected to hit India at the start of June 2024.
