The Android smartphone market is still waiting for its first truly high-end clamshell foldable smartphone of 2024 - however, prolific leaker Digital Chat Station is certain that one is on the way in the form of the Mix Flip.
If so, it will launch as Xiaomi's inaugural foray into this fast-growing segment. However, it is also backed to be anything but a first-gen flop, packing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC while its alleged rival the Motorola Razr+ will make do with the more efficiency-focused 8s Gen 3.
Digital Chat Station also now asserts that the Mix Flip will be a device with all you could possibly want from a premium smartphone that can also bend in the middle - which hopefully includes a usable cover screen and rear cameras.
The Mix Flip is also tipped to come with fast charging (compared to the Galaxy Z Flip series to date, that is), a thin and light build and a nearly invisible main screen crease when open.
It may also prove a headache for the Razr+ as it is projected to be available outside China - then again, the global version of the Mix Flip is portrayed as its non-satellite variant in another recent leak.
Nevertheless, the first-gen Xiaomi clamshell might still see hot competition from a successor to the OPPO Find N3 Flip, which is also relatively widely available, for example via retailers such as TradingShenzhen.
