Xiaomi MIX Flip shows itself with satellite connectivity in new regulatory filing

MySmartPrice has spotted a new certification for yet another unreleased Xiaomi smartphone. As the screenshot below shows, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China has certified '2311BPN23C', a model number that does not demonstrate much itself. However, 2311BPN23C has previously appeared on IMEI databases linked to the model name 'Mix Flip', likely stylised as MIX Flip like the MIX Fold 3.

On the one hand, the MIIT certification demonstrates that Xiaomi is actively developing 2311BPN23C. If that were not the case, then it would be unlikely that Xiaomi would seek approval from any regulatory bodies to sell such a device. In saying that, an MIIT certification is only an indication that 2311BPN23C could come to market and not a guarantee that this will occur.

Previously, Digital Chat Station claimed that 2311BPN23C is an 'extremely thin and portable' clamshell foldable, adding that its 'screen performance' is suited for taking pictures. While the leaker did not provide any evidence to back up that claim, the MIIT mentions the inclusion of Tiantong connectivity, a satellite communication standard that the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro lack. Typically, Xiaomi's model numbers indicate when it plans to release a device, which would be November 2023 in the case of 2311BPN23C. Given that has not come to pass, it is unclear when the MIX Flip will debut, let alone receive a global release.
