ViewSonic VX2758-4K-PRO-2 debuts as affordable new 4K gaming monitor with four video inputs
ViewSonic has updated its product stack with VX2758-4K-PRO-2, a 27-inch gaming monitor based around a 'Fast IPS' panel. Please note that Fast IPS is merely a marketing term denoting an IPS panel with fast response times. In this case, the VX2758-4K-PRO-2 takes 1 ms for a pixel to change between two colours (GtG).
Thus, ViewSonic's latest effort is on par with many modern IPS gaming monitors and about 3x slower than modern QD-OLED gaming monitors in this regard. In any case, the VX2758-4K-PRO-2 also integrates AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies to mitigate image tearing when gaming. To that end, the monitor delivers a 160 Hz refresh rate, as well as a native 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160) and 300 nits peak brightness. Additionally, the VX2758-4K-PRO-2 supports DC dimming, covers 100% of the sRGB colour space and is HDR10 compliant.
Moreover, ViewSonic has included four video inputs split evenly between DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connections. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether the latter conform to the TMDS or FRL standards. However, ViewSonic's marketing material implies the former rather than the latter, which would limit the VX2758-4K-PRO-2 to 60 Hz gaming in 4K. Currently, ViewSonic is only selling the VX2758-4K-PRO-2 in China, where it retails for CNY 1,699 (~$237). Typically, the company eventually releases new gaming monitors, although it has not outlined when that will occur for the VX2758-4K-PRO-2.
