Z-Pocket Game Bubble showcased as new retro gaming handheld with SEGA Game Gear styling
Z-Pocket Game, also known as ZPG, has announced the Bubble, under two months after presenting the A1 Unicorn. While the A1 Unicorn resembled a Powkiddy RGB30, the Bubble appears to draw inspiration from the SEGA Game Gear. As always, ZPG has not set a release date, yet.
Instead, various specifications have been outlined online, while Retro CN has posted a few pictures of what could be a retail unit. On the one hand, the Z-Pocket Game Bubble is said to feature a 3.5-inch display with a 640 x 480-pixel resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. As Retro Dodo notes, a 4:3 display is not an exact match for the Game Gear's 10:9 aspect ratio, which could result in games looking slightly stretched.
On the other hand, the Bubble is expected to arrive with the Rockchip RK3566, a 22 nm SoC found in many gaming handhelds and budget single-board computers (SBCs). For reference, the Rockchip RK3566 integrates four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at around 2 GHz and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU that operates at up to 950 MHz. In other words, the Bubble should also be capable of emulating some PlayStation 1 games. The Z-Pocket Game Bubble will eventually be available through Retro CN, although it remains to be seen when that will be the case.
