Signify has released a new version of the Philips Hue app for iOS and Android, version 5.8.0. The latest software brings many new features to enhance your experience with the brand's smart security cameras, wall switches and smart lights, like the Philips Hue Play White & Color Smart Light.
A new Mimic presence automation can be used to deter intruders; you can set up this feature by going to Settings > Security > Mimic presence. Another feature in the update allows you to filter video clips captured by your Philips security camera. Options in the Security Center let you filter by person, vehicle, animal, package or other. Further organization tools come in the form of "Group", allowing you to categorize your scenes to make them easier to find or copy to another Room. Plus, it's now easier to delete and move your lights using the Edit Room page, where you can also sort alphabetically.
Those using wall switch modules may be pleased to hear that improvements include Time-based light and Natural light scenes, enhanced dimming and the ability to add up to 10 scenes for Scene cycle mode. Plus, you can now set your switch to specifically not trigger a room while turning on lights in other areas; Signify describes this as setting the switch to "do nothing". You can download the latest version of the Philips Hue app from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
