U-tec’s new lighting range including brighter smart bulbs launching soon
U-tec is expanding its smart home range to include various lighting products, which are expected to launch soon. Previously, the brand specialised in smart locks with its Ultraloq range, with three new models on the way. The Bright lighting line-up includes two Smart Light Bulbs, which the company claims are the first Wi-Fi Mesh bulbs on the market.
This system provides a stable bulb-to-bulb connection without a hub or bridge. Plus, only one bulb is connected to your Wi-Fi router, reducing network congestion. The U-tec Bright A19 and A23 bulbs produce multicolor dimmable light with an above-average brightness range of 1,100 to 2,200 lumens. You can remotely control the smart bulbs via the U-tec app or voice commands, with versions designed for Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
According to an interview with The Verge, U-tec hopes to release Matter editions of the bulbs, which will add Apple Home compatibility, in the future. The product page also suggests that a radar human detection feature can trigger the lights. A Smart Dimmer Switch will launch alongside the smart bulbs, providing another control option for your lighting. It is unclear how much the U-tec Bright Smart Light Bulbs will cost; the Smart Dimmer Switch is expected to retail for $22.99. The U-tec smart home range will be on show at CES 2024, where further details may be revealed.
