MagyarPhilips Hue releases new tool for smart lights in update
Philips Hue has released version 5.9 of the Hue app, which is available for iOS and Android. Compared to the software rolled out earlier this month, version 5.8, the new update is relatively minor, with one additional feature for a particular smart lighting accessory.
The Hue app now has more options for the Tap Dial Switch and the Hue Tap Dial Switch Mini, a similar device without a wall plate. These battery-powered accessories have four buttons, allowing you to control up to three rooms or zones with each, enabling control of up to twelve areas. The latest software means you can now select from three options when you push and hold the button: nothing, switch off a selected room or zone or turn off every connected device in your home.
Other features of the wireless Tap Dial Switch include dimming via the dial and a magnetic backing, allowing you to move it between compatible objects in your home. The Switch and Hue Tap Dial Switch Mini each retail for $49.99. You can now download the latest iOS and Android versions of the Hue app at the relevant stores.
