The PG27FFX2A is one of several upcoming 27-inch gaming monitors that ASRock intends to sell under with Phantom Gaming branding. However, it is the only one that delivers a 520 Hz refresh rate across its 1080p IPS panel. Other highlights include 90% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 400 nits peak brightness, plus a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports.

The Phantom Gaming PG27FFX2A is one of two IPS-based gaming monitors that ASRock has presented at the start of the year. For reference, the other is the PG27QFW2A, a slower but higher resolution example that we have covered separately. Additionally, the company recently introduced the PGO27QFS2A, PGO270W2A and PGO34QRT2A with various OLED panel types and specifications.

According to ASRock, the PG27FFX2A pushes its IPS panel to 520 Hz, making it faster than the Dell Alienware AW2524HF and MSI MPG 272QPX. The PG27FFX2A does not share its panel with either monitor, though. On the one hand, the Alienware AW2524HF combines its 500 Hz refresh rate with a 1080p resolution across a 24.5-inch panel. On the other hand, the MPG 272QPX takes matters further with a 1440p resolution and a 27-inch panel size.

By contrast, the PG27FFX2A sits somewhere in between with a 27-inch panel size but a 1080p native resolution. Also, ASRock quotes 1 ms GtG response times, AMD FreeSync Premium support to mitigate image tearing and 178/178-degree viewing angles. Moreover, the panel is said to achieve a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as 90% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 400 nits peak brightness.

While the monitor lacks any VESA DisplayHDR certification to speak of, it will integrate Adaptive Sync technologies across its single DisplayPort 1.4 and twin HDMI 2.1 video inputs. Furthermore, TFT Central reports that ASRock has included a USB hub with 'some...data ports', along with a 3.5 mm jack and stand that supports height, rotation, swivel, and tilt adjustments. Unfortunately, pricing and availability for the Phantom Gaming PG27FFX2A remain unknown for now; ASRock has not listed the gaming monitor on its website yet, either.
