ASRock has revealed the Phantom Gaming PG27QFW2A, an upcoming gaming monitor built around a 27-inch IPS panel. While many gaming monitors of the same panel size already exist, few combine the resolution and refresh rate of the Phantom Gaming PG27QFW2A, which runs natively at 1440p and 400 Hz, respectively.

The Phantom Gaming PG27QFW2A is something of a novelty. Based on the specifications that ASRock has revealed so far, the PG27QFW2A sits below the PG27FFX2A in its product stack. For context, the latter has a 27-inch IPS panel with a 1080p resolution and a heady 520 Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the PG27QFW2A delivers a 400 Hz refresh rate, also across an IPS panel that measures 27-inches across.

The PG27QFW2A does so at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels though, thereby delivering a more detailed picture than the 1080p PG27FFX2A. Additionally, the PG27QFW2A is said to combine its 1440p resolution and 400 Hz refresh rate with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio but only 350 nits peak brightness. Unfortunately, ASRock has not provided too many other display specifications yet. However, the company adds that the monitor will offer VESA Adaptive Sync support and AMD FreeSync Premium certification to reduce image tearing when gaming at high refresh rates on modern AMD graphics cards.

Moreover, ASRock has outlined that the PG27QFW2A sports several ports, including DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connections. On top of that, the monitor should ship with a USB hub and a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones or external audio equipment. A fully stocked stand with height, swivel, tilt, and rotation adjustments will also be in attendance, mirroring the PG27FFX2A. Pricing and availability are a mystery for the time being. If the PG32UMF and PG558K are anything to go by, it could be a while before ASRock releases the PG27QFW2A; ASRock presented both last spring but has not provided any updates since.
