ASRock has introduced the PG558KF, one of several new gaming monitors that have graced Computex 2023. As its name suggests, the PG558KF has a 55-inch monitor that resolves at 8K. As the screenshot below shows, ASRock is promoting the PG558KF as having a flat IPS panel that resolves at 7,680 x 4,320 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Additionally, the PG558KF will deliver a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 1,200:1 contrast ratio through 252 local dimming zones, which is fairly uninspiring for a gaming monitor. However, 8K gaming escapes most modern graphics cards, particularly at beyond 60 Hz. Moreover, the gaming monitor will be VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, meaning it will be capable of 1,000 nits peak brightness. This will be possible when viewing HDR content, though; ASRock lists 750 nits as typical maximum brightness.
Furthermore, the PG558KF will ship with two DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports apiece, plus a USB hub that features four USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A downstream and a USB Type-C upstream port that supports 90 W charging via the USB PD 3.0 protocol. Pricing and availability are unknown for now, although we imagine ASRock will provide more details later this year.
