Acer has announced a potentially significant expansion of the SpatialLabs Developer tool-kit for the creation of new "3D stereoscopic experiences" today (May 26, 2023). The OEM has unveiled its own SteamVR Bridge driver, as well as a certification for OpenXR Runtime. SpatialLabs Pro Devices are also now rated to support the Unity plug-in, which is popular among professional creators of various disciplines.

Acer has striven to bring glasses-free 3D stereo content back with the establishment of the SpatialLabs line of devices. Now, the OEM indicates that they are even more useful to developers in this space with new features to help them connect their workflow with other platforms and utilities often vital to the industry.

They include SteamVR, for which Acer now offers improved support with its own Bridge Driver. The OEM also asserts that a SpatialLabs Pro developer can also use it to connect to NVIDIA's Omniverse to visualize the simulations or models in progress.

Acer has also announced that it now has its fully "comformant" Runtime for OpenXR, the "high-performance" cross-platform VR/AR API developers may have been missing to get their work onto applications such as Blender or hardware such as Meta Quest headsets.

Finally, SpatialLabs Pro devices also now officially support the Unity plug-in. Acer is confident that these new developer tools will make the "true 3D" content-making machines more attractive to creators in fields such as architecture, medicine and education as well as gaming and entertainment.
