Deal | 2023 Acer Swift Edge 16 with Ryzen 7 7840U APU and 120 Hz OLED panel gets massive US$300 off at Best Buy

Acer unveiled the Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43) with the latest Ryzen 7 7040U processors and a 16-inch OLED display at Computex 2023. A Ryzen 7 7840U-powered configuration of the laptop has now been priced down by a substantial 23% at Best Buy. The discount brings the Acer Swift Edge 16 down to US$999.99 from the US$1,299.99 retail price (via slickdeals). According to Honey's price history tool, this is the lowest price for the Swift Edge 16 which was first seen in August.

The Acer Swift Edge 16 model on offer comes with a Ryzen 7 7840U APU, 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 memory, and 1 TB of storage. These specs are complemented by a spacious 16-inch 16:10 OLED display that boasts a 3200x2000 resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, and 400 nits of brightness. Furthermore, the Acer Swift Edge 16 features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.1, and a 1440p webcam.

While we haven’t reviewed the Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43), the laptop should be pretty good based on the specifications alone. 

For starters, the Ryzen 7 7840U APU features an 8-core Zen 4 CPU and a Radeon 780M iGPU. In our testing, the Ryzen 7 7840U performs practically on par with the Core i7-13700H processor in the Cinebench R23 Single-Core. The muli-core performance of the chip is also quite respectable with an average Cinebench R23 Multi-Core result of 11,829.

Additionally, the Radeon 780M iGPU inside the Ryzen 7 7840U, although not a replacement for dedicated GPUs, manages respectable frame rates in lighter titles at 1080p with low/medium settings. For instance, the iGPU ran F1 2023 at 59 FPS, Diablo 4 at 44 FPS, and Atomic Heart at 32 FPS, all at FHD resolution with medium-quality settings per our database.

Put simply, combined with Acer’s claim of up to 8.5 hours of battery life, the Acer Swift Edge 16 seems to be a solid deal at US$999.99.
